Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal Dear release team,
Debian python teams would find useful to evaluate on continuous basis removal of python-support from the archive and thus migrating to dh-python2. We are uncertain of the scope, and the pace at which this transition can be completed. But it would be extremely useful to have a transition tracker setup (permanent-type ?!). The following tracker was used in Ubuntu to remove python-support/python-central from main suite: Affected: .build-depends ~ /(^| )(python|python-dev|python-all|python-all-dev|python-support|python-central|dh-python)\s*([,(]|$)/ | .build-depends-indep ~ /(^| )(python|python-dev|python-all|python-all-dev|python-support|python-central|dh-python)\s*([,(]|$)/ Good: true Bad: .depends ~ /python-central/ | .depends ~ /python-support/ Can such a tracker be setup please? More details about the steps required to transition are documented at: https://wiki.debian.org/Python/TransitionToDHPython2 If possible include that URL in the tracker description.
