The Python3 Bind9 DNS Management application (dms) that I am uploading to Debian in the NEW queue needs it. Its a real nice to have as you don't get 'python -blah blah2', and you can pgrep for it. It ould be very helpful to have this for my init script. I am quite will to render any assistance, advice and/or help required to help you get this done. If you are not interested in looking after this package any more, a good suggestion is to pass the package onto the Debian Python Modules Team https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/PythonModulesTeam/ If you would like to do this, as a Debian Developer I can help arrange it. One of the Python Modules team goals for Jessie is get migrate off python-support if possible: https://wiki.debian.org/Python/JessieRoadmap which is needed to implement Python3 support for packaging.
