Hi, As a matter of fact, lintian currently complains if you use /usr/bin/python2 instead of /usr/bin/python. I guess this is because its heuristics make it expect a dependency on package called "python2", which does not exist (it's simple python). I stumbled on that yesterday, and no, I haven't taken the time to write a proper bugreport yet. Kind regards, Thibaut.
