It may not be worth porting the entire patch, but I think the core interesting bits won't be too difficult. The one tricky extra thing to implement is switching it on only when -Xenablecachedir is given. In Python 3.2, it's always enabled. We'll see how things go. If Ubuntu 10.10 is going to include multiple versions of Python 2.x, then I think it makes sense. With one 2.x and one 3.x it's not quiet as clear. -Barry
