The author of PyOrbit told me by mail that PyOrbit is dead and pointed me to Orbit-Python... so, I think that you can follow with your plan, since no one wants to have a package depending on an incomplete and unmaintained package. I'm looking into your package right now. Can you tell me if there is a way to launch and get the IOR of a gnome object (OAF / Gnorba)?
