Well, the President can still call assembly elections AIUI, so cohabitation still looks really possible if the president's party makes only a slight or coalition win in one of the votes, but it's never likely to last as long as the most recent 5-year Chirac-Jospin one. But this is detail: cohabitations have worked in government and still often occur in business, with an outgoing executive leader taking a non-executive official role, or leadership by a college representing different views.
