Dear Cypher, First of all, please use reconfigure your mail client to use your real name. Please note the latest release of Debian is 3.0 (code-named Woody). However, there is no guarantee that your winmodem is supported under Debian 3.0 let alone ANY current distribution or version of Linux. Winmodems are notoriously hard to support under Linux due to their manufacturer's unwillingness to release information about them to the public domain. Your best bet is to check <http://www.linmodems.org/> to see if it is possible (and how) to get it working under Linux, or better still, buy an external serial (or USB as long as it's not a winmoden) as they definitely work in Linux. If you need anymore help, please send contact <debian-user@lists.debian.org> (-project is not a technical support list), <http://www.debianhelp.org> or ask in #debian on irc.debian.org.
