Hi, there hasn't been any more input to this thread for quite a while now, so I gathered all opinions expressed so far and did a (partial) rewrite of the new policy for the consultants webpage.
There has been much discussion about the requirement of a link back to www.d.o on the consultant's website. Just to make this absolutely clear: No consultant will be required to *operate* a website and to link back to Debian. However, if they list an URL, there should be some text about the consultants work and the aforementioned link to www.d.o. For example, take a look at <http://www.brahy.com/>. This surely isn't a website that should be linked from the consultants webpage. Please have a look at this modified version. I'm waiting for your comments. Policy for Debian's consultants page ==================================== 1. Mandatory contact information Working e-mail address (reply within four weeks at maximum) Must not be @debian.org address (see DMUP) 2. Further contact information Every consultant may list other means of contact except the mandatory e-mail address. The list currently includes: (Preferably street) address, phone, fax, URL (must not be official .debian.org domain, see DMUP) 3. Website If an URL is provided, the consultant must mention their Debian-related work on the website. The Debian distribution must be mentioned explicitly, together with a link to www.debian.org. Removals and modifications of entries ===================================== If the above criteria are no longer met, the consultant should receive a warning message that they are about to be removed from the listing, unless they fulfill all criteria again. There should be a grace period of four weeks. A request for an update of the consultant's information should be sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED], preferably from the e-mail address mentioned on the consultants page (http://www.debian.org/consultants). Some parts of the consultant's information can be removed if they don't comply with this policy anymore. The consultant should include a region where they reside (this is probably the nearest big city in most cases), so that the information can be grouped geographically, if needed. -- Tobias Never trust a man who can count to 1023 on his fingers.
