Hi all, prompted by several "Teams" talks I followed, I acquired the firm conviction that the current loose "Printing Team" teams infrastructure is actually hurting the possibility to find new team members. I think that we're too few to maintain this stack reliably on the long-term and that we should make sure the team is easy to join and contribute to.
For instance, the "team membership" is quite loose as it is currently only defined through the wiki page [0], which isn't really current. [0] https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/Printing The current status is that the pkg-cups group has only cups and cups- filters, where collab-maint has all other packages [1] [1] http://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=debian-printing@lists.debian.org I would like to: a) create the pkg-printing alioth group (or rename pkg-cups if that's possible) b) make its members' list up-to-date c) move all packages there (including a routine upload to change VCS-* fields of course.) d) update the wiki page to be more up-to-date regarding the current team membership, concerned packages and eventually (but at a later point) a short "printing stack policy", encoding the use of pyppd, VCS usages, etc. Opinions, comments, remarks? I plan to go ahead with this in the first week of February, so please chime in sooner rather than later if there are things you would like done differently! Cheers, OdyX
