FWIW, the culprit here is libadwaita-1 [1] which is oddly enough a Gtk widget
library for mobile phones but as a build dependency of other important Gtk
packages, it keeps these packages from being up to date.

I will look into sending a patch for libadwaita-1 to make it behave better on
older architectures so this situation is avoided in the future.

As you can see in [1], the package builds fine on ppc64, so this particular
problem shouldn't exist there.
