I tried to install the driver for the video card ... before installing
it was incredibly slow, after installing and putting settings in
xorg.conf, the graphical interface didn't load anymore

Which version is possible to install on the G5 Dual?
I tried several versions yesterday and all gave error when

Another thing ... how to boot the Radeon GPU?
There's an issue in current 5.x kernls in Debian for (some) G5, the
fix was submitted upstream but is probably not yet integrated.
4.x (and older) kernels should be fine.
I don't think this computer is bitten by bug, since the installer
seems to boot and fails at the final stage (grub install).
Anyhow, there is a good guide on how to circumvent the problem of the
install of grub with the current install disc here :
https://forum.powerprogress.org/d/15-debian-10-updated-installation-images-for-debian-ports-2019-11-22
It's pretty simple and it works. Someone should maybe add to this
guide the need to pin the grub debian package to avoid an accidental
upgrade which would break it again.
I'm curious to see how the radeon card will run with this machine : my
9600 AGP card works but is not well supported and xorg is slow.
