I don't think you will have much luck getting any feedback there.
Such bugs are upstream bugs and should be reported upstream.
FWIW, you can just try a newer version of the source. The current version
in Debian is pretty old:

Debian has 332.25 while upstream is already at 593. If the latest
upstream
version doesn't support PowerPC anymore, try anything between 332.25 and
593.
Following bug [#765104] this seems to be a lost cause, because HFS rw
support seems to have been removed from these Apple tools when Mac OS X
10.6 came out (see [1]).
On second thought, maybe this doesn't affect the operation of the
`fsck.hfs` tool.
