Hi list, I have a G4 Powerbook (1Ghz, 12") and I installed macosx 10.39 and debian ppc 5.03. Everything worked fine but there was one little annoyance. The default OS was set to debian and I wanted to change it. First I used yabootconfig which was a bit silly as I ended up with debian only. Next I changed the config to default = macosx and macosx=/dev/hda3 and did ybin -v. After a reboot it still booted debian because it has to be defaultos instead of default. So I corrected it and again ybin -v and reboot. All the messages ybin and yabootconfig spit out looked good btw. Then macosx booted by default BUT after starting an email program the whole system froze and after a hard reset there was no yboot anymore. Just a white blank screen. I booted a macosx CD and wanted to repair the partitions but the 160 GB are just somehow 20 GB now. Thus I did nothing. Next I booted debian in rescue mode and had a look at the disk. There is nothing at all. dmsg complains about io-errors and block0 not readable ;-( What now? I do not dare to do anything without being very sure what might help. If someone has an idea I'd really appreciate it!
