Did you also try to play a music file (eg. ogg, mp3, wav)? On (some?) newer models the audio output of the CD-ROM drive is not connected to the sound chip. With these models you can't usually directly play a Audio CD-ROM. There is a plugin/setting for vlc which makes it work, but i forgot how you have to configure it and I'm currently away from my powerpc machine. Gaudenz -- Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter.
