Hi, after a lot of attempts, I was able to reach some progress. I have figured out, that the 5.x.x version Debian PPC CDs are not bootable on PReP machines. The older 4.0rX images can be booted, as they contain a PReP boot image. I was able to load the kernel, but it is very-very slow (8-10 minutes until the first messages show up), and the boot process hangs, when loading the initrd image:

I was trying to boot the Yellow Dog Linux floppy images, that were downloadable from: http://users.linpro.no/ingvar/43p/images It managed to boot up to a certain point, where it was caught in a loop, while trying to reset the Symbios integrated SCSI controller. I will in the next few days try to boot the other (Debian, SuSE and Mandrake) floppy images. Maybe they will not have this problem. Anyway, I will report back, if I have some further progress on this matter.
