Bash shell hangs on lenny (powerpc)

Hi All,

When I tried to run Lenny on MPC8358 powerpc based board, it hangs.
Ctrl-C, Ctrl-Z  are not working. And I cannot return  to bash shell.
Shell is not responding , but serial console  accepts characters.
Does anybody have same kind of problem. What could be the reason for such kind 
of behavior.
