I'd recommend not to do that at first. Rather keep your xorg.conf empty to start with, and look at /var/log/Xorg.0.log to see what went wrong on the previous attempt to launch X. There you'll see which driver was used and what it said. Searching for WW and EE in that file is a good starting point.
