Booting on a PowerPC is just a little bit (ok, a lot of bit) complicated. 

Here's the Fine Debian Manual on the issue.

You'll need to use Yaboot to configure and bless the bootstrap.

You need to create an Apple Bootstrap partition, which is generally at
/dev/sda2.
