Booting on a PowerPC is just a little bit (ok, a lot of bit)
complicated. Here's the Fine Debian Manual on the issue. http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/powerpc/ch04s04.html.en You'll need to use Yaboot to configure and bless the bootstrap.
