It's hard to tell, because you didn't tell us the exact powerbook model, but I suspect that you should use snd-aoa instead of snd_powermac. Try loading "snd-aoa-i2sbus". If snd-aoa does not work either, please post the content of /proc/cpuinfo. BTW AFAIK there is no powerbook with a sound card on the PCI bus. So the output of lspci is irrelevant.
