Hi there,
This is to confirm a weird issue.
The machine is a Workgroup Server 8550/200 running MacOS 9.0.4.
I installed 9.0.4 myself from an original CD.
I am using BootX as bootloader.
Basically, when I install Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 on this Workgroup Server
8550/200,
- all of the installation goes well
- but after the reboot, the only thing I see on the screen is the floppy
disk with a flashing "?" in it
I first thought Open Firmware was "messed up". I tried Command-Option-P-R
until I heard two startboings. Did not solve the problem.
Then I thought this was due to quik "messing up" the partition table and/or
blessed partition. So I re-installed Debian GNU/Linux 4.0, with the option
"priority=low", and I told debian-installer *not* to install quik
.. anyway, even if I do not attempt to install quik, the machine still
becomes unbootable

Of course, I did not mess with all the non-Linux partitions
The only way I know to fix this is:
Boot on a bootable System 7.x or MacOS 8.x floppy
Double-click "Apple HD SC Setup 7.3.5"
Choose "Update"
Reboot the machine
