Since make-kpkg is used to build the official images, and those official images build fine, there should be no problem. arch/ppc is indeed broken for any powermacs, and there is no chance of it working. Still, recent make-kpkg should be able to detect the right thing all by themselves, and should be fine. I did provide the patch myself. If you have still problem with it, you need to file a bug against kernel-package, and please C me on the bug.
