Hello all, I have observed recently that I am experiencing random lock-ups of the X and (I think) of the keyboard.
The problems, AFAIR - but not 100% sure, appeared before migrating to modular X, but since then (some hours ago), I didn't had any X session without lockup. What do I mean by lock-up? - Sometimes the mouse is still moving, but no clicks are accepted. - Also the keyboard seems to be dead, or the system does not respond to any keyboard input. - The current image is frozen and switching to other consoles does not work. - happened only in X - background processes are working (laptop-net beeps on removal of cable and recoupling) - I can login by ssh; top reports Xorg consuming 80% - 90% CPU - the system is responsive from the ssh login Info follows: merci ~ # cat /proc/cpuinfo processor : 0 cpu : 7447/7457, altivec supported clock : 999MHz revision : 0.1 (pvr 8002 0101) bogomips : 665.26 machine : PowerBook5,2 motherboard : PowerBook5,2 MacRISC3 Power Macintosh detected as : 287 (PowerBook G4 15") pmac flags : 0000001b L2 cache : 512K unified memory : 256MB pmac-generation : NewWorld merci ~ # uname -a Linux merci 2.6.14-merci #1 Sun Nov 13 00:48:01 EET 2005 ppc GNU/Linux This is what I found weird in dmesg output: [ 149.970390] adt746x: Setting speed to 0 for CPU BOTTOMSIDE fan.
