I had investigated this, and am not fully sure what the real solution is for it though. I don't really know what the linux/powerpc guys are thinking about it. Also, since for 2.6.16, we move to ARCH=powerpc, there are other issues at hand in the out-of-tree module packaging, but given the current issue, i am having some doubt about my future involvement, so you better post on debian-kernel about this, and ask Bastian Blank on help.
