Sorry for the double post earlier. I'm writing this email from Debian. I decided to try my old 2.6.8 kernel and it booted up fine. I have no idea why my regular kernel is now panicking every boot, but I suppose this just gives me a reason to go ahead with a planned kernel upgrade anyway.
If people have special tips on making the newer Powerbook trackpads work and making Airport Extreme work, feel free to post a step-by-step guide in reply.
