Hello, I've been trying to install the synaptics driver to disable the tapping of the touchpad. Now i am using the normal driver, /dev/input/mice that seems to work for the usb mouse and for the touchpad at the same time. I've selected mouse support, PS/2 support and even interface support in the kernel and i've installed the 0.14.4-1 version of the xfree86-driver-synaptics from debian sid. But Xorg does not recognize the device. I obtain this output:
(II) Synaptics touchpad driver version 0.14.4 (1404) Synaptics Touchpad no synaptics event device found (checked 14 nodes) (**) Option "Device" "/dev/psaux" (**) Option "MaxTapTime" "0" (**) Option "HorizScrollDelta" "0" Query no Synaptics: 6003C8 (EE) Synaptics Touchpad no synaptics touchpad detected and no repeater device (EE) Synaptics Touchpad Unable to query/initialize Synaptics hardware. (EE) PreInit failed for input device "Synaptics Touchpad" I've been reading other posts about this and i don't understand it well, if i have 2 devices, touchpad and usb mouse, why only one logical device?(/dev/input/mice) I would like to have different preffs, for example to disconnect touchpad when usb mouse is plugged, or simply to disable the touchpads tapping click, only using the button for click. Thanks for your time Saladino
