hi there, i have been trying to write a keymap file for my "british" iBook G4 keyboard. and i have uncovered something very scary indeed... the macros for a lot of the symbols do not translate into their respective font!
for example, if i bind "plusminus" to a key combination, i do not get outputted the plusminus symbol when i press that key. i get a filled box. if i, however, use a decimal value [241, source http://www.asciitable.com/] and more... for example, if i bind 0x00a3 (or "pound" or "sterling") to a key combination, i get outputted ugrave... not the symbol expected! it would appear that the font mapping is incorrect, or that certain symbols are missing. i have noticed similar symbol-font conflicts with several others... such as "exclamdown". my /etc/console-tools/config says i am using "SCREEN_FONT=lat0-sun16"... is it this font which is incorrectly mapped? how can i fix this? what font does everybody else use? which one is the most standards compliant in terms of sticking to the extended ASCII sequence. this is all very confusing. cheers, Sam -- Free High School Science Texts http://www.nongnu.org/fhsst/ Sam's Homepages http://fommil.homeunix.org/~samuel/ http://www.ma.hw.ac.uk/~samuel/
