Hello, I got a new ibook yesterday, and used sarge-powerpc-businesscard.iso form beta4. I had to use expert-safe as boot option, because otherwiese I could see the penguin for a moment (and a few boot messages) and then nothing.
I installed (although I could not switch to my german keyboard) with only one problem: the lvm menu items refused to work. So I dropped to a shell, and created the VG and within LVs (for e.g. /usr, /tmp, /home, /var). The remaining install (mounting of the partitions, including those on the LVM), worked flawlessly. After reboot, I could not boot, because the kernel presented showed the same behaviour as the standard kernel on the installer (I chose the kernel-2.4.25-powerpc). After lots of trials and reading, I finally managed to boot via hd:4,/vmlinux root=/dev/hda4 ro video=ofonly (Wishlist: the installer should create such an entry as fallback at least if it detects that such an option was necessary for the installer himself; I was not able to add it to yaboot-conf and have yaboot see it after rebooting). Now the kernel boots, but with several error messages ("command not found"), up to INIT: Entering runlevel: 2 Starting system log daemon: syslogdchmod: changing permissions of `/dev/xconsole': Read-only file system Booting back into the installer, I see that unfortunately the lvm-tools are not in /bin, nor in /sbin of the installed system. Before re-installing, is there an easy way to get those binaries onto the system? In the installer, I can unmount, but not eject the CD, hence burning a second CD with the required binaries does not help (I cannot get the medium in the drive).
