cdcd, xmms and grip (falsely) assume you can transmit analog audio from your CD player. On most Intel PC's this is done via a small audio cable to your sound card. Assuming you have an Apple however, this is done digitally via the flatcable. Alsaplayer apparantly can play digital CD audio. Christian Luijten
