i have a serial modem card here which needs a wider port/memory range. if you integrate all 4 configuration examples, then that card is recognized. > > this works for me... a little bit. > > i have a memory card from sandisk where i have to reboot the machine if > > i want to to use another card afterwards (even the same sandisk card) > > a wlan card i plugged in last week also got recognized with that setting > > which did not when i still had the old x86 setting (though the sandisk > > card worked most of the times with the x86 setting). > > Do you have to reboot the machine if you want to switch to another > card after using the wlan card? Also, on one of my machines, I have to > type "cardctl insert 0" to get it to recognize a card after > boot... have you tried that? unfortunately, i do not have _this_ WLAN card at hand. but i get ioctl(): Device or resource busy when i try that with another WLAN card (which used to work last week, but does not anymore this week). anyway, i tried with a handful of cards today with several configurations and the results are staggering. a configuration and a card that worked 10 minutes before, do not work later after having changed the configuration forth and back. there are several different error messages. a small collection: Serial: cs: memory probe 0x80000000-0x80ffffff: excluding 0x80000000-0x803fffff 0x80600000-0x806fffff 0x80b00000-0x80bfffff 0x80d00000-0x80dfffff 0x80f00000-0x80ffffff Serial: 8250/16550 driver $Revision: 1.90 $ 8 ports, IRQ sharing disabled IN from bad port 3f9 at f259c030 IN from bad port 3f9 at f259c030 IN from bad port 3f9 at f259c030 IN from bad port 2f9 at f259c030 IN from bad port 2f9 at f259c030 IN from bad port 2f9 at f259c030 IN from bad port 3e9 at f259c030 IN from bad port 3e9 at f259c030 IN from bad port 3e9 at f259c030 IN from bad port 2e9 at f259c030 IN from bad port 2e9 at f259c030 IN from bad port 2e9 at f259c030 serial_cs: ParseTuple: Bad CIS tuple cs: memory probe 0x009100-0x009fff:__ioremap(): phys addr 00009000 is RAM lr c001360c __ioremap(): phys addr 0000a000 is RAM lr c001360c excluding 0x9100-0xb0ff Serial: 8250/16550 driver $Revision: 1.90 $ 8 ports, IRQ sharing disabled IN from bad port 3f9 at f259b030 IN from bad port 3f9 at f259b030 IN from bad port 3f9 at f259b030 IN from bad port 2f9 at f259b030 IN from bad port 2f9 at f259b030 IN from bad port 2f9 at f259b030 IN from bad port 3e9 at f259b030 IN from bad port 3e9 at f259b030 IN from bad port 3e9 at f259b030 IN from bad port 2e9 at f259b030 IN from bad port 2e9 at f259b030 IN from bad port 2e9 at f259b030 ttyS1 at I/O 0x2f8 (irq = 53) is a 8250 PCNet: cs: memory probe 0x80000000-0x80ffffff: excluding 0x80000000-0x800fffff 0x80500000-0x806fffff 0x80800000-0x808fffff 0x80c00000-0x80cfffff 0x80e00000-0x80efffff eth2: NE2000 Compatible: io 0x300, irq 53, hw_addr 00:00:E8:38:20:00 Hw. address read/write mismap 2 eth2: no IPv6 routers present eth2: Too much work at interrupt, status 0x22 eth2: no IPv6 routers present IN from bad port 32d at f2596150 IDE: cs: memory probe 0x80000000-0x80ffffff: excluding 0x80000000-0x801fffff ide-cs: GetNextTuple: No more items cs: memory probe 0x80000000-0x80ffffff: excluding 0x80000000-0x800fffff 0x80900000-0x80bfffff 0x80d00000-0x80efffff Probing IDE interface ide2... Danke schön :) damnit, i wondered about "ck" or just "k". i almost never write diacritics in foreign languages, because my keyboard layout does not make it easy. :) bye, sebastian -- ::: .O. ::: ..O ::: OOO ::: lynx -source http://www.kodeaffe.de/shensche.pub | gpg --import
