-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 im running alsa 1.0.4 on my debian imac its an imac dv.
card is supposedly a PowerMac Screamer with a PowerMac AWACS chip (thats what alsamixer is telling me) now. the computer has inbuilt stereo speakers, it has 2xfront headphone ports (really nice idea) and it has a side output for i guess headphones or speakers (whatever floats yoru fancy, i suppose you could plug it into an amp and some speakers if you wanted) anyway, the neat thing about it is that it detects when you plug something into the said output ports. now rather than just playing out of the headphones (like how my ibook does) it just merrily plays out of headphones and also speakers. now in alsamixer i have headphone detection as on or muted. now whenever i plug in headphones, regardless of this setting the sound volumes change seemingling randomly. i play with various other available levels but alas i cannot achieve audio just out of my headphones a quick google hasnt helped. any pointers?
