Alternatively, use the "scsiadd" package. Certainly both these solutions solve the major problem, in that echoing to /proc/scsi/scsi or calling scsiadd is more convenient than rebooting! My question, is it sensible to try for a little more convenience, by attempting to configure hotplug for automatic actions when an external scsi device is powered on/off? -- John
