Hi I am running sid on a Dual processor G4 with 2.4.23-benh kernel. I've compiled in both IDE/ATAPI and SCSI support but I'm having trouble mounting a cdrom.
Dmesg (included below) indicates that my CDROM is hdc but in /dev group cdrom refers to scd0 etc. /dev/hdc is in group disk. When I try to mount the CD manually with: mount /dev/hdc -t iso9660 -r /cdrom I get No medium found. I'd be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction TIA Clive # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> # <pass> /dev/hda16 / ext3 errors=remount-ro 0 1 /dev/hda11 none swap sw 0 0 proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 /dev/hdd /floppy auto user,noauto 0 0 /dev/hdc /cdrom iso9660 ro,user,noauto 0 0 /dev/hda12 /usr ext3 defaults 0 2 /dev/hda13 /var ext3 defaults 0 2 /dev/hda14 /tmp ext3 defaults 0 2 /dev/hda15 /home ext3 defaults 0 2 Dmesg output: ide: Assuming 33MHz system bus speed for PIO modes; override with idebus=xx ide0: Found Apple KeyLargo ATA-4 controller, bus ID 2 ide1: Found Apple KeyLargo ATA-3 controller, bus ID 0 ide2: Found Apple KeyLargo ATA-3 controller, bus ID 1 Probing IDE interface ide0... hda: Maxtor 53073U6, ATA DISK drive hda: Enabling Ultra DMA 4 Probing IDE interface ide1... hdc: HITACHI DVD-ROM GD-7000, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive hdd: IOMEGA ZIP 100 ATAPI, ATAPI FLOPPY drive hdc: Enabling MultiWord DMA 2 Probing IDE interface ide2... ide0 at 0xe22c6000-0xe22c6007,0xe22c6160 on irq 19 ide1 at 0xe22ca000-0xe22ca007,0xe22ca160 on irq 20 hda: attached ide-disk driver. hda: host protected area => 1 hda: 60030432 sectors (30736 MB) w/2048KiB Cache, CHS=59554/16/63, UDMA(66) hdc: attached ide-cdrom driver. hdc: ATAPI 40X DVD-ROM drive, 512kB Cache, (U)DMA Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.12 hdd: attached ide-floppy driver. hdd: 98304kB, 196608 blocks, 512 sector size hdd: 98304kB, 96/64/32 CHS, 4096 kBps, 512 sector size, 2941 rpm Partition check: hda: [mac] hda1 hda2 hda3 hda4 hda5 hda6 hda7 hda8 hda9 hda10 hda11 hda12 hda13 hda14 hda15 hda16 hda17 hdd: hdd4 SCSI subsystem driver Revision: 1.00 scsi0 : SCSI host adapter emulation for IDE ATAPI devices -- http://www.clivemenzies.co.uk strategies for business
