Yes, that's exactly what I do for an oldworld here. BTW, did you (or was it Gaudenz) get my .config file for the oldworld? Do you need asssistance with generation of a .config file? AFAIR, the generic powermac kernel that you package (e.g., version 2.4.22) has a .config file that is too big to be compressed for inclusion in a miboot floppy. The vmlinux file, when compressed, is 1.5MB in size, which is obviously too big for a 1.44MB floppy. OTOH, I think that support for some features and/or drivers could be turned off. Also, they could (with some limiations) be put into an initrd (depending on how the new installation system works).
