Hi.. my system just hung while I was typing a message in knode.. The relevant messages from syslog seem to be the following:

Sep 7 10:17:11 ibook syslogd 1.4.1#11: restart. I had to do a hard reboot on my ibook... I'm running a 2.4.20-ben10 kernel with KDE 3.1.. Any ideas on what may have caused the crash? thanks, nirmal
