I2c is very easy to interface to and there are plenty of i2c temp sensors. Because the bus is basically power + 2 wires you should be able to retro-fit one quite easily, if you can find where the i2c bus goes. There are many other interesting devices one could control from i2c, do a google search and you'll be amazed :) -- njh
