Hmmm, I tried the rescue floppy with no success. I will try again with a diffrent floppy and report (perhaps I suffered from media error). Thanks for the reply. As an interesing aside, I can boot hfs floppy in the left media bay. (MacOS will not boot from a left media bay floppy on this machine.) It is unusable for installation, though, because the floppy fails to eject when the kernel is ready for the root floppy.
