Are you trying to get it working in X or on the console? The two methods are different. For the console, do `dpkg-reconfigure console-data` and select the keyboard you think will be correct. (Probably azerty -> French -> Apple USB). For X, do `dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86` and put 'fr' for 'Please select your keyboard layout' If either of these doesn't result in a keymap that matches the symbols printed on the physical keyboard, it's a bug that should be fixed.
