I'm using pbbuttonsd (unstable distribution) and I've removed completely pmud.
APM events from /etc/apm/*.d seems not to be executed. Is this a bug or an unimplemented feature? pbbuttonsd states to be fully able to replace pmud but it seems to me (yes, I'm not sure indeed) that when I was using pmud + pbbuttonsd APM events were executed.
