i think it is somehow related to power management mechanism. i get this
strange message when X launches that the permissions on /dev/pmu are
wrong and that i need to fix it and restart ACME. as far as i can tell,
there's nothing wrong with the permissions:
crw------- 1 root root 10, 154 Apr 3 01:27 /dev/pmu
i guess for the moment i'll trade-off the sleep function and debian logo
(sniff, sniff) for a stable machine and keep trying.
