Probably most list denizens would skip your wordy dialog, it would be better to summarize the problem yourself next time ... I just downloaded and verified the current root.bin works on an oldworld, so there must be something going on with either the floppy drive you're writing with or the one in the mac. Maybe blow the dust out? You could check to see what you have on the floppy matches the file with diff -b root.bin /dev/floppy -- "The way the Romans made sure their bridges worked is what we should do with software engineers.
