oops sent that to the wrong person! there are 2 steps:
first boot the machine with the kernel_installer (found here: ftp://ppc.linux.or.jp//pub/users/ekato/nubus-pmac/Debian_woody/) install the debian system, and reboot. then move that kernel+installer to a safe location, and replace it with the standard kernel (found here: ftp://ppc.linux.or.jp/pub/users/ekato/nubus-pmac/current/ ) make sure that it is named "Mach Kernel", and place it in the extensions folder. boot that kernel with the mklinux booter; specifying the location of your root partition (i.e. #rootdev=/dev/sda6) cheers! dylan on 03.1.14 6:13 PM, Chris Tillman at [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > On Tue, Jan 14, 2003 at 05:05:38PM -0700, Philip Larkin Waters wrote: >> So, I used the Mach Kernel and the Apple Bootloader and I actually got some >> results! >> >> It was kinda cool... >> in any event I got the following error: >> >> VFS Cannot open root device sdb5 or 08:15 >> Please appand a correct "root=" boot option >> >> kernel panic VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:15 >> >> on a 7100/80 what is the correct root= option and how do I set it? >> >> >> please reply to me directly because i'm not sure if I'm getting mail list >> responses back >> thanks > > Remember these are volunteers on this list, who come home after > work and start working on Debian.
