That's X trying to set a mode not supported by the LCD panel. aty128fb currently doesn't support scaling on the LCD to "simulate" such modes. It's partially supported in radeonfb but a bit broken. I plan to fix it and eventually backport that to aty128fb but I can give no timeframe. Ben.
