Real Time Clock (hardware clock)

Hi,

I compiled my kernel 2.4.18 with enhanced real time clock. It's on a 
PowerPC 604e, PowerMac 9500MP bi 180MHz.

But it locks during the boot at:
"Setting the system clock using the hardware clock as reference..."

 And during the shutdown at:
"Saving the system clock time to hardware clock..."

The clock on the 9500 is a quartz...
In the menu config it's written: use "enhanced real time clock" for 
SMP....
Do I?
