Hi I am having trouble installing Debian on a R/S
6000 , B50. I am
not sure if this machine is CHRP or PREP (I suspect
Prep as this is
more recent?) , so I tried both rescue disks, with
and without the
zImage file from
http://www.terraplex.com/~dburcaw/zImage as recommended in the guide for installing Debian for the B50 at http://adequat.c2a.fr/linux/howtos/rs6000. PREP fails with "prep boot failed" and returns to
the OK prompt
CHRP starts to boot, appears to load and decompress the image, and freezes on "booting"
SUSE images did not appear to work either, but I am not sure what I was doing there.
N.B. The original graphics card was faulty and was
replaced with a S3
card.
It will boot AIX, terminal access only. Flashed BIOS to latest version from IBM What have I missed? |
