It has more to do specifically with whether or not it's a PCI-based
system. If it's a NuBus-based system, then you will need the kernel at
nubus-pmac.sf.net. Note however that the most recent NuBus kernel is 2.4.5
or 2.4.6-pre[something]. Takashi Oe has not been maintaining it of late.
Is anyone looking at taking up the mantle? I tried to adapt the patch for
NuBus support to a more recent kernel, but I could never get the bastard
to link.
