The potato and woody kernels are basically the same (2.2.19 and 2.2.20 I think). So if you get potato's going, you'll be up-to-date kernel-wise, unless you want to go for a 2.4-series kernel. (I saw the other comment about BootX/alias, seems reasonable.) The kernel file for potato is named vmlinux-2.2.19-pmac. You probably want to rename it on the exchange volume so the alias thing works.
