There is a wealth of info at:   http://master.penguinppc.org/projects/quik/ 

I leave /boot on my root partition. Quik will try to boot the first
partition it finds with boot blocks on it - ie run quik on sda2 then on
sda3, and it will try to boot from sda2. Quik also will not follow
symlinks.
