I got the same error on PowerBook G3 Wallstreet II 266, kernel 2.4.10-ben0 Here's what I hand copied from the broken kernel: Uniform Multi-Platform E-IDE driver Revision: 6.31 ide: Assuming 33MHz system bus speed for PIO modes; override with idebus=xx pmac_ide: enabling IDE bus ID 0 ide-pmac(ata1): can't request IO resource ! loop: loaded (max 8 devices) Then it freezes. Here's what my working kernel (2.4.5-pre5) shows: Uniform Multi-Platform E-IDE driver Revision: 6.31 ide: Assuming 33MHz system bus speed for PIO modes; override with idebus=xx pmac_ide: enabling IDE bus ID 0 Registered ide 1 for media bay 0 hda: TOSHIBA MK1814GAV, ATA DISK drive hdc: MATSHITADVD-ROM SR-8182, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive ide0 at 0xcf81d000-0xcf81d007,0xcf81d160 on irq 13 ide1 at 0xcf821000-0xcf821007,0xcf821160 on irq 14 hda: Enabling MultiWord DMA 2 hda: 35433216 sectors (18142 MB), CHS=35152/16/63, (U)DMA hdc: Enabling MultiWord DMA 2 hdc: ATAPI 12X DVD-ROM drive, 512kB Cache, DMA Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.12 Partition check: /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0: [mac] p1 p2 p3 p4 p5 p6 p7 p8 p9 p10 loop: loaded (max 8 devices) Hope that helps someone figure out what's going on...
