cat /proc/modules shows dmasound as being loaded, but unused. I've tried using 2.4.9 and 2.4.10-pre2 kernels (prebuilt debian kernels). In both cases I can install soundcore and dmasound_core, but the system freezes when I install dmasound_pmac. [ By the way, with these 2.4 kernels X fails to use the entire screen (about an inch of black area on the right side) , and also has a slight but noticeable flickering that I don't have with the 2.2.19 kernel. I haven't researched this in the archives, so hold your flames-- just thought I'd mention it since I'm writing to the list anyway. ] Thanks for your responses, Bill Carini
