After upgrading this morning (9/20/01: which included mozilla 0.94) I
find mozilla no longer starts when the blackdown java plugin is
install, with an interesting error message:
INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: Could not load
/usr/local/j2sdk1.3.0/jre/lib/ppc/libjavaplugin_oji.so: linking
error=/usr/local/j2sdk1.3.0/jre/lib/ppc/libjavaplugin_oji.so:
undefined symbol: XtShellStrings
System error?:: Success
Removing the java plugin lets mozilla start with no problems. Note
that merely clicking on the gnome launcher icon merely cause Mozilla
to fail silently, I had to try starting it from a command shell to
get the error I'm reporting.
I am running testing, and my last upgrade prior to this was on Monday
morning (9/17/01).
While I'd like to get the java plugin working again, and would
welcome any suggestions, this message is primarily informational in
case it might be of use to someone. (Say you've just updated and
Mozilla stopped working and you don't know why ;)
Secondary question: penguinppc.org is still offering JDK 1.3.0, I
know that some blackdown architectures are at 1.3.1. Does anybody
know if this is being brought to PPC?
